March edition of our monthly round-up of immersive things
OuiSi: The Photo Connection Game
The following is a list of immersive things that are currently crowdfunding.
At Columbia DSL we explore new forms and functions of storytelling. Through our programs, prototypes and events we strive to build collaborative spaces that push at the edges of the impossible.
Upcoming Columbia DSL spring events
April 3rd “Digital Dozen: Breakthroughs in Storytelling” our annual roundup celebrating the past year’s most innovative examples of digitally enabled narrative. The evening is part of the Columbia DSL’s monthly meetup held in partnership with the Film Society of Lincoln Center
Collaborators Wanted! We also hold monthly meetups at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and are currently building a global prototyping community.
We’re always searching for interesting immersive things. If you know of something that we should experience or if you’re interested in collaborating with us please let us know.
Your musical ideas into reality, using the one instrument you’ve been practising since birth — the voice. With Dubler Studio Kit you can hum a melody or synth pattern, beatbox to trigger a virtual drumkit, or manipulate effects and filters with a “hmmm”, “laaaa” or “oohhh” sound — all in real-time.
*please note that this is my own project
“Where There’s Smoke is a hybrid of a live documentary, an immersive theatre experience, and an escape room that will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Inspired by true events in my life, Where There’s Smoke explores the connections between two mysterious fires and my father’s battle with cancer.”
“Last Labyrinth is our first attempt at developing and publishing an original title of our own. We are a game developer based in Tokyo and have spent the last ten years focused on developing games for other companies. The development of Last Labyrinth is going smoothly, but our marketing budget is extremely limited. We hope to reach a wider audience through the funds raised by this Kickstarter project and introduce as many people as possible to the world of Last Labyrinth.”
“College of Wizardry, the longest running and largest Magic School immersive event in the world, saw its former organizers cancel all events on March 5. Together with the community of thousands of miraculous people from all over the World, International Emmy Award Winning studio The company P wants to Save College of Wizardry by rehiring the crew, running the events and re-opening the doors for more magic!”
“Help build a new immersive space and home for working artists in the heart of San Francisco. The Galallery is an independent art space that is part of The Secret Alley in San Francisco. We’re here to ask for $15,000 so we can build a new immersive studio in The Secret Alley. This project will produce multiple spaces — one for our expanding team, and another available open studio. With your help, we can create a place that will allow us to share the magic of The Secret Alley with underground art lovers in San Francisco!”
“The name of this inventive set of photo cards is “yes-yes” in French and Spanish, pronounced “we see” in English. Fun, isn’t it? We call the set OuiSi because it invites players of all ages — regardless of language ability or background — to look more closely and marvel at the everyday world by making connections together. Visually, and with creative leaps, every card can be matched with other cards based on similar patterns, shapes, colors, composition and even concept — whatever you can imagine!”
